We began our involvement in dogs with our first German Shorthaired Pointer in 1981, from the Seelenmeyer kennel. This male puppy went on to become Australian Champion Seelenmeyer Bruno ('Max'). Following 12 months later was the purchase of our foundation bitch, Australian Champion Burnbrook Quilla Q.C ('Quilla'). Quilla was a black & white from the first litter born in Australia by Vassal Vom Niestetal (Imp Germany), from the renowned Burnbrook kennel, in Western Australia...from this point on, we were hooked!
We registered the Woodwych prefix in 1983, and shortly after this we bred our first litter by Australian Champion Burnbrook Othello. We bred a number of litters which produced succesful competitors in both field, retrieving & obedience trials, followed by many successes in the show ring. Our first Best Exhibit In Show winner was Australian Champion Woodwych Top Hat 'N' Tails ('Monty') who was also a Royal Show Best Exhibit In Group winner, Speciality Runner Up Best In Show winner and multiple All Breeds Best Exhibit In Show winner. Our daughter Lauren joined our prefix in 1997 at the age of 14, and soon became the main handler for Woodwych GSPs. At this age, Lauren went into partnership with Nick Gouzos (Boarbadger Miniature Smooth Haired Dachshunds) in owning her first dog in her own name. He went on to become Australian Champion Boarbadger Havoc ('Bobby'). Bobby was also a Royal Show Best Exhibit In Group & Puppy In Show winner, as well as being the Dogtainers Puppy Of The Year 1998.
Since then we have bred multiple All Breeds & Specialty Best Exhibit In Show & Runner Up Best Exhibit In Show winners, numerous Australian Champions, 2 Grand Champions and the current 2008 National GSP Speciality Best Exhibit In Show winner.
Although we do not breed a great number of litters, those we do breed are carefully researched to ensure we maintain the quality of dogs we pride ourselves on. We look forward to many more years of success & enjoyment with our dogs.
